The face of downtown Austin is about to change dramatically with the announcement of a major real estate development soon to be implemented at the William P. Hobby, Jr. State Office Building. Set to be situated at 333 Guadalupe St, this mixed-use, redevelopment plan comprises of workforce housing, child care facilities, ample parking, and retail space.
In the words of Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, this initiative aims to provide housing facilities for hard-working residents of Austin “who simply cannot afford to live near where they work.” This development will provide the much-needed convenience of efficient mobility for state employees and other workers throughout the city.
Adding to the accessibility factor, this complex will be conveniently along the planned route for the Project Connect light rail, bringing transport synchronization to a significant level.
The transformational project is currently in its proposal phase with prospective investors given 90 days to submit their proposals. The deadline has been set for Nov. 13. Thereupon, the Texas General Land Office will review the proposals and recommend the best ones to the Texas School Land Board for making the final decision. It’s an inspiring real estate development and a testament to the continued evolution of our beloved Central Texas.
