The transformation of historic downtown Austin continues with the refurbishment of the St. Elmo Public Market at 1912 E. Seventh St. Once a warehouse, this enormous space had once been slated to become a bustling public market. Today, the property is set for a completely different, but equally exciting fate – evolving into a state-of-the-art entertainment complex complete with a bowling alley, arcade, and bar.
The purchase was completed by SomeraRoad, a prominent player in the commercial real estate sphere. The space has been leased to established entertainment brands, Pins bowling, and the 16-Bit arcade bar, injecting a fresh dose of thrilling fun into Austin’s continually developing downtown scene.
This makeover is expected to commence this year, and it’s highly anticipated by the local community. The public was initially promised a revamped market place set to open in 2021, which unfortunately didn’t materialize. In July 2022, the property was listed for sale before catching the attention of SomeraRoad.
The original architectural concept was created by Anderson Wise. However, this new entertainment hub will undoubtedly offer an exciting departure from the traditional layout, ushering in a modern, engaging space for Austin’s vibrant community to enjoy.
