Yee-Haw Development Marketing Group acknowledges the importance of adapting to the region’s environmental challenges, especially when it relates to flooding. The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is seeking public input regarding nature-based solutions for mitigating flood risks until Sept. 29. The gathered responses will assist in creating a guidebook for communities aiming to execute such projects.
Nature-based solutions are versatile, spanning from detention and retention ponds to conservation of natural attributes like floodplains and wetlands, or even roadside trenches with nature-focused components. Interestingly, projects aimed to bolster water quality or deliver additional environmental benefits can effectively mitigate flooding.
As expressed by Saul Nuccitelli, TWDB’s Director of Flood Science and Community Assistance, the current work is viewed via a flood mitigation perspective. However, the expectation is that it will have wider benefits including improved water quality, added environmental enhancement, and heightened public recreation and enjoyment. The TWDB is striving to connect these project benefits and motivate those involved in flood projects to include nature-based facets in their strategies [Source Here](https://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=29910).
