Building Progress: New Fire Station Ready to Heat Up Northwest Austin

As a sign of development and progress in the Northwest Austin area, the construction of a brand-new fire station at 9804 N. RM 620 Rd. is due to commence shortly. Having been granted the green-light following the finalization of a contract with respected firm JE Dunn Construction Inc., the multifunctional facility, valued at a cool $20m, will provide pivotal fire and EMT services to communities such as Canyon Creek, River Place, and Anderson Mill.

The state-of-the-art station will be home to a four-lane garage, a fully-equipped fire engine, a wildfire brush truck, an ambulance, and even boasts eco-friendly features including solar panels and a rain garden for effective runoff and collection.

This ambitious project follows the city’s mission to establish five new stations in areas most in need, all in a bid to meet an impressive target: ensuring 90 percent of emergency response times fall within eight minutes. The Canyon Creek Fire Station is the fifth and final establishment to get underway per this plan.

With construction slated for completion in October 2024, it’s an exciting time as we look to the future of emergency services in Northwest Austin. For more information about this project, check out the original article [here](https://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=30089).
