Nonprofits, Vecino Group, and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) have collaborated to develop a $53 million affordable housing project. The Libertad Austin will have three four-story buildings with 198 units, located at 900 Gardner Road. It will feature 50 one-, 95 two-, and 44 three-bedroom floor plans ranging from 653 to 1,052 square feet. Most of the apartments will be reserved for families earning at or below 30 percent to 60 percent of the median family income. The remaining 50 units will be designated for people experiencing homelessness.
