Fort Worth Leads the Nation in Population Growth

Fort Worth, Texas, has experienced remarkable population growth, topping the list of U.S. cities with the most significant increase in residents between July 2021 and July 2022. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest population estimates, Fort Worth added 19,170 residents during this period, bringing its total population to 956,709 and securing its status as the 13th largest city in the nation. Notably, Texas was home to five cities, including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin, that ranked among the 15 most populous cities in 2022. Texas is the only state with more than three cities on both the list of fastest population gain by numbers and by percentage of growth. As the DFW metro area continues to thrive, it now stands as the fourth largest in the country, adding more residents than any of the top ten most populous cities by numbers.
