Central Texas boasts a growing number of eco-friendly coworking office spaces, with Houston taking the lead in LEED-certified buildings. The city ranked fifth nationally in the number of such buildings, according to a recent report by CoworkingCafe. The study revealed that out of Houston’s 12 green office buildings with coworking spaces, nine have Gold LEED status, and one has Silver status, accounting for 9% of total local coworking construction. Austin and Dallas also made significant strides, ranking 11th and 12th, respectively. On the state level, Texas ranks second, with 32 green commercial or mixed-use buildings that include flexible workspaces, only outperformed by California.
